History and Uses
Amazonite has been used as jewellery by Mesopotamian cultures and in India, Egypt, Sudan, Central and South America since ancient times. It varies in shades of green from bright verdigris to pale turquoise. Its name is derived from the Amazon River in Brazil. It has been traditionally used to build harmonious relationships. In effect, it is thought to help curb the tendency to express oneself using sarcastic and critical words.
