History and Uses

Amber is a fossilized resin from extinct coniferous trees. The word “electricity” is derived from the Greek name for Amber, electrum. This is explained by the fact that Amber can acquire an electric charge when rubbed. Amber has been used for thousands of years in jewellery, amulets and ornaments. In 1711 an entire room in the Royal Palace in Berlin was made of carved Amber.
It contains succinic acid has been traditionally used for its healing properties to boost the immune system, relief for teething babies, overcoming depression and for impotence for men.

Geological Description

Amber is an organic material made up of fossilized natural botanic resins. It is a mixture of hydrocarbons with a hardness of 2 to 2.5. Baltic Amber was formed from the resins of pine trees 30 to 60 million years ago.
