Spirit Quartz Crystal Healing Properties
This beautiful crystal is believed to help harmonise and cleanse the levels of the aura, the chakras, the meridians and the physical body. Also, it transmutes negative energy and provides an auric shield from harm. History and Uses
Also known as Cactus Quartz, Porcupine Quartz or Spirit Crystals, these crystals are only found in South Africa. It is characterised by its formation of tiny, druzy crystals covering the shaft of a larger quartz point. Usually, Spirit Quartz is found mainly as light coloured Amethyst. Funnily enough, it received its name after a South African window cleaning product called Spirit which is the same light purple colour. Also, it can be found in Clear Quartz and less often in Citrine or Smoky Quartz. Traditionally, Spirit Quartz has been used to support astral travel, shamanic journeying, dream work, re-birthing, and meditation.
Geological Description
Spirit Quartz is a silicon dioxide mineral with a hardness of 7. It has an unusual growing habit where a central candle shaped crystal with a faceted termination is the main crystal body which is covered in small terminated points. These crystals are most usually of amethyst and only found in Magaliesburg, South Africa.

The crown chakra is the primary Spirit Quartz chakra. However, it also works with the Solar Plexus. In effect, this crystal relates closely to the crown chakra as it aids spiritual work and meditation. As such, it facilitates the ability to look inward and to also become more connected with your higher self. Similarly, the connection with the Solar Plexus is represented through this crystal’s believed properties of freedom from fear. Also, it helps us find our centre of personal power and brings us confidence and openness.
Spirit Amethyst is very similar to Spirit Quartz, however, it has more purple colouring occurring within it. However, with a higher content of Amethyst, it is believed to hold more Amethyst properties. As such, it can bring about peace, relaxation, release of negative thought patterns and help you let go of bad habits.
